Bengtson hits 16 at national hoop shoot

05/01/11 SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Dylan Bengtson, a 9-year old from Dalton Elementary in Coeur d'Alene, made 16 of 25 free throws to finish 12th out of 12 finalists in his age group at the Elks National Hoop Shoot on Saturday morning.

03/30/11 On March 4, 2011, at State College High School in State College, Jensen Boehme, daughter of Christy and John Boehme of McConnellsburg, placed fourth in the Pennsylvania Elks Hoop Shoot State Championship. Jensen was in the 8-9-year-old girls division and shot 15 out of 25 foul shots.

03/23/11 Dallas Farmer, 11, of Jordan recently won the Elks' Hoop Shoot Arkansas state championship and the Central Region championship. Farmer will compete in the national finals on April 30 in Springfield, Mass.

Basketball stars hit the hoops

03/23/11 James Powers, of Leomin- ster, recently won the Massachusetts Elks Association State Hoop Shoot competition in the Boys 10-11 category. James, who competed against nine other boys making 19 out of 25 shots, advances to the New England championship in South Portland, Maine, this weekend. Patricia Pallotta, also of Leominster, finished second in the Girls 8-9 category. read more

02/25/11 Glen Rock's Trevor Arico, 9, representing Ridgewood Elks Lodge No. 1455, is now a New Jersey State champion in the Elks National Hoop Shoot. From the 118 Elk Lodges in the state, he is only one of three boys to advance to the Northeast Regional Hoop Shoot on Saturday, March 26 in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
