The Hanford City Council voted 5-0 Tuesday night to hire the 38-year-old Straus -- described as "innovative and thoughtful" -- as the next city manager. Straus will begin his new position May 3, following the departure of current City Manager Gary Misenhimer, who will retire May 1.
