02/05/11 More than a dozen area hospitals could soon feel the effects of a low blood supply. The Arkansas Blood Institute has declared a blood emergency in the River Valley. The winter weather is keeping donors at home which is causing a serious shortage. The regional recruitment manager, Danny Cervantes, says the Fort Smith Donor Center is down to a less than one day supply of blood.
