02/03/10 Mitchell Oakley, a 39-year Pitt County newspaper veteran and community leader, retired effective Jan. 31 as group publisher of three non-dailies published by Cooke Communications North Carolina LLC. He will continue on a part-time basis during an indefinite transition period, according to Tim Holt, general manager of The Daily Reflector.
