PHOTOS: Huge crowd hits Riverside Park for 2011 Star-Spangled Bonita celebration

07/05/11 With the rain ceasing and the sun peering out, an estimated 5,000 people showed up for the festivities at the Star Spangled Bonita Fourth of July event. There were ice cream, watermelon and hot dog eating contests, and a Blue Ribbon pie contest hosted by the Zonta Club. Live music was performed by Jay Frost and 3 Below and Cahlua and Cream. A laser light show and fireworks display ended the night.

Blue-ribbon council to discuss bring Route 53 into Lake County

07/07/11 The Illinois Tollway is forming an advisory panel to try to reach a consensus on the proposed northern extension of Route 53 into Lake County.
