Missed flight helped college take off

07/19/11 It's possible Frank Seaver was the first person ever to miss an airplane flight. On May 9, 1913, word came to his mother in Pomona that a military plane - flown by Seaver's friend Army Lt. J.D. Park - had crashed in Santa Ana, killing the pilot.
