07/09/11 Many years of service to Park Board and community were recognized yesterday when the board voted unanimously to designate Silver Lake Park as the Thornton A. Sullivan Recreational Area. Sullivan was currently serving as board chairman, a post he had held for many years.

Iowa Waterways Get A Clean Bill Of Health

07/10/11 WORTH COUNTY, Iowa - Some Iowa rivers are getting a clean bill of health. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports that Silver Lake in Worth County as well as the Cedar, Iowa, Shell Rock, and Wapsipinicon rivers have been removed from the DNR's impaired waterway list.

Lightning from morning thunderstorm suspected cause of Fenton apartment building fire

07/11/11 Two families have been displaced after a fire broke out this morning at Silver Lake Hills apartments in Fenton. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Fenton Fire Chief Bob Cairnduff said he suspects it was an electrical fire caused by lightning.
