Barnett rig count down by 5

07/08/11 The number of active U.S. drilling rigs rose by one this week to 1,887, according to Houston-based oil field services firm Baker Hughes. There were 1,007 rigs exploring for oil; 873 for natural gas; and seven miscellaneous. (primarily geothermal). The Texas count was 850, down three from a week earlier.
