Area soldier recovers from Fort Hood shooting

01/04/10 Army Spc. Matthew Cooke and his wife, Sara, said they are starting 2010 with a sense of gratitude. Matthew Cooke, formerly from the Sidney area, is recovering from four gunshot wounds suffered during a rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in November. Doctors told him he was progressing faster than expected, Cooke said Sunday.
