Born on the 4th of July: Tellico Plains reflects on 100 years

06/29/11 TELLICO PLAINS-The year 1911 was a time of new beginnings for an area in Monroe County. On July 4 of that year, the state incorporated a town, naming it Tellico Plains after the Cherokee capital of Telliquah, which was once along the shores of the Tellico River.
