Nelson, of Clarksburg, looks over an old ballot box during the auction of furniture and other items from the old North Adams City Hall on Morris Street in this picture from Sept. 6, 1974. A crowd of 250 bought every stick of furniture, according to news reports from the time, and the auction netted the city $6,700.
