    Crab Orchard Utility District wins regional competition for best tasting water

    03/03/11 The Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD) recently announced the Crab Orchard Utility District has been awarded first place in the Best Tasting Water Competition in Region Four, which consists of Clay, Cumberland, DeKalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Roane, Smith, Trousdale, Warren and White counties. The samples were judged on clarity, bouquet and taste.

    Earthquake Hits Kentucky

    01/18/11 An earthquake has occurred in Kentucky. Seismologists with the U.S. Geological Survey say the 2.4 quake occurred five miles from Albany Kentucky, and three miles from Byrdstown Tennessee.   It occurred just after 4 a.m., and had a depth of 4.7 miles. The epicenter was 80 miles from Knoxville, Tennessee.

    11/06/09 Electricity was out in the William Blount Drive area of Maryville almost three hours following a dump truck accident at 1:13 p.m. Thursday. The outage was from Big Springs Road to Stinnett's Body Shop, and included a traffic light.
