WPIAL Baseball Playoffs: Seneca Valley edges Bethel Park

05/25/11 Offense was in short supply, but two runs were ultimately enough for Seneca Valley in a 2-1 WPIAL Class AAAA semifinal victory Wednesday against Bethel Park at North Allegheny. Seneca Valley junior pitcher Matthew Smith gave up a first-inning run, then pitched six consecutive scoreless innings en route the win.

Colrain man killed in motorcycle accident

06/13/11 SHELBURNE, Mass. (AP) -- State police say the driver of a motorcycle has been killed after striking a stopped car on Route 2 in Shelburne. Police say 24-year-old Matthew Smith of Colrain died when his motorcycle struck a Subaru Forester which was stopped on the side of the road.
