Barker will play soccer at Lander

02/17/11 Thomson High School soccer standout Miranda Barker signed her commitment Feb. 10 to attend Lander University in Greenwood, S.C. The four-year varsity player said she has scored about 63 goals as a forward for the Bulldogs. She has been a team captain three years.

Police: Drunken Student Fired Gun Near Store

04/20/11 A former Lander University basketball player and current student was arrested after he fired a handgun into the air at a convenience store while he was so drunk he couldnt stand up, police said.
