Compact seeks to reclaim iconic Provincetown lighthouses

07/07/11 Keepers braved bitter winters there, witnessed the sinking of the S-4 submarine there and trained the famous pet sea clams Betty and Oswald there. All the more reason why Long Point Light and Wood End Light, the two lighthouses located on the sandspit that curls around Provincetown Harbor, should be enshrined in the annals of Provincetown history.

Beach update: Long Cove Pond open, Long Point is not

07/14/11 Chris Kennedy, The Trustees of Reservations Martha's Vineyard superintendent, announced Thursday that Long Cove Pond, part of The Trustees Long Point property in West Tisbury is open for swimming. "But the ocean beach is still closed," Mr. Kennedy said.
