    BLM Suspends Horse Gather On Army Depot

    11/02/10 The Bureau of Land Management has suspended the late November gather of 104 wild horses living south of Walker Lake on the Hawthorne Army Depot in northern Nevada.

    Cloud seeding part of Walker Lake rescue plan

    11/28/10 Public comment is being sought on a plan to spend $1.36 million to seed clouds above the Walker River Basin. The Bureau of Reclamation has released a draft environmental assessment in the plan to increase precipitation over the Walker River to help provide more fresh water to Walker Lake.

    Five willing seller water deals closed at $22 million

    05/16/11 The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation has presently closed five water right acquisition deals--four in Mason Valley and one in Smith Valley--totaling over $22 million in its efforts to deliver additional water to Walker Lake under the Walker Basin Restoration Program.
