06/13/11 An obituary for Henry William "Hank" Lewis, who founded the first ski patrol on Mount Hood -- first west of the Mississippi -- was published over the weekend. Lewis, who grew up in Portland, made his first and last climbs 65 years apart.

Hazardous trees cause closure of Indian Henry Campground near Estacada

07/15/11 Mount Hood National Forest officials said the Indian Henry Campground is being shut down indefinitely to patrons because falling shallow-rooted hemlock trees have caused too much of a safety concern to keep the 86-camping site area open.
