Two Wasco alumni were in a car crash in the early morning hours of Nov. 30, killing 19-year-old Sergio Mendez and critically injuring his friend Ascension Mendoza, a four-time South Sequoia League cross country champion, on a stretch of Highway 46 between Wasco and Lost Hills.
