06/08/11 Tideland News Writer Jaimee Radel must be human after all. The ace of the Swansboro High School softball team carried the Lady Pirates all the way to the NCHSAA 2A state championship game, but after four games in less than 24 hours the Swansboro superstar finally ran out of gas.

07/03/11 Tideland News Writer Thanks to Bob Penrod, when the nation pauses this fall to remember the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., folks in Swansboro will have a place to go to connect more acutely than most to those who perished that day.

WORC tennis team wins state title

07/18/11 Tideland News Writer Sometimes in sports, David slays Goliath. It happened in early June when a team from the White Oak Racquet Club in Swansboro traveled to Asheville and snatched the 3.5 Division (50 years of age and older) North Carolina Senior State Championship, putting the small club on the tennis map in a big way.
