The lifeboat involved when Navy SEAL sharpshooters rescued a kidnapped ship captain from Somali pirates in April was trucked onto the museum grounds on North Hutchinson Island shortly after 10 a.m. Friday to a tumultuous round of applause by the crowd of about 200 people awaiting the arrival. 08/13/09 You'll soon be able to get an up close and personal look at a lifeboat used in the hijacking of the cargo ship Maersk Alabama off the coast of Somalia earlier this year. On Friday, the bullet ridden 28-foot lifeboat will arrive at the National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce where it will be put on permanent display.
09/11/10 John Horner,63, of Port St. Lucie, is a retired sergeant major, one of the senior noncommissioned officers around whom the Army revolves. He served in Vietnam and a lot of other places as an infantryman but now serves as the drum major for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office pipe band, and works as a volunteer at the National Navy UDT/SEAL Museum in Fort Pierce.
