    Residents want detour signs around Elk River Bridge

    07/07/11 Last month, the Tennessee Department of Transportation closed part of State Highway 321 in Elk Mills. They plan to replace the bridge over Elk River by May of 2012. Until then, the project will force drivers from North Carolina and Tennessee to use a series of back roads. The trip is short, but can be confusing. Some residents want the state or Carter County to put up official detour signs.
