    02/02/10 COROLLA A group of parents tired of three-hour bus rides for their children has applied to open a charter school. It would be the first school on the Currituck Outer Banks in 53 years. A public information meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Pine Island Fire Station.

    NC man charged with killing pregnant wife

    02/02/10 Police have charged a man who formerly lived in NC in connection with the 2005 murder of his wife.  Raven Abaroa, 30, was charged on Monday at his home in Idaho, according to WRAL.com.

    Pennsylvania murder suspect arrested in Leland

    02/02/10 Leland | A man wanted in connection with a murder in Pennsylvania is being held without bond in the New Hanover County jail, officials said. Angus Louis Richardson, 24, of Brookhaven, Pa., was arrested Tuesday morning in Leland, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.
