07/11/11 Two years after towns and cities first won the option to tax 75 cents out of every $100 spent at local restaurants, nearly 42 percent of the state's communities are biting. In Cambridge, where the meals tax went into effect in October 2009, the city has generated almost $3.1 million from the tax in fiscal year 2011. Cambridge generated about $2.1 million in the previous fiscal year.
