12/31/09 Florida has taken its first direct recruiting hit since Coach Urban Meyer's weekend flip-flop. Matt Elam, a Palm Beach, Fla., safety ranked the nation's No. 14 overall prospect by Rivals.com, has decommitted from Florida. And here's the double-whammy. Elam dumped the Gators for Florida State.
12/18/09 Buford is No. 1, Gainesville No. 2 and Flowery Branch No. 3 in the final prep Associated Press prep football poll released today. Meanwhile, Jefferson, Apalachee and North Gwinnett also finished in the season-ending top 10.

Grace Academy, a state semifinalist a year ago, should be a strong team with senior guard Brandon Herman, an NCAA Division I recruit. 11/10/09 The area's top high school football programs held their positions in the final regular season rankings released Tuesday. Gainesville, North Hall, Creekview, Jefferson, Buford, North Gwinnett and Apalachee will all enter their first round playoff games this week as top 10 teams.
