Brothers make careers of 133rd Regiment

07/06/11 LAGHMAN PROVINCE, Afghanistan --- Fifty years. That's how long Sgt. 1st Class Tim Fiedler Jr., and his younger brother, Staff Sgt. Rich Fiedler, served, not just in the Iowa National Guard , but in the same unit, Company A, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry Regiment.

Polk Soldiers conduct Security Force Assistance Brigade training

07/09/11 Soldiers from C Company, 1st Battalion, 353rd Infantry Regiment, 162nd Infantry Brigade, conducted scenario training June 1 for their upcoming mission to Fort Bliss, Texas. The training includes a review of six scenarios that will be conducted during the Security Force Assistance Brigade training.

This week in Civil War History

07/11/11 The 23rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment was organized in Columbus, beginning on June 1, 1861. The regiment was the first in Ohio to be created for three years service. Previous regiments had been organized for three months service.
