Studies confirm region of chromosome 9 linked to risk for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

08/30/10 Genetic variations on chromosome 9 have been identified that might have a role in the development of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia. Findings in two separate Articles published Online First in The Lancet Neurology add to the evidence that a region of chromosome 9 is linked to a higher risk of ALS across multiple populations.
