Born March 16, 1920 in Norwalk, she was the daughter of the late Earle Van Deusen Hamm and Isa Palmer Hamm , and her step-mother, Irene Griggs Hamm . A graduate of Norwalk High School , Class of June 1938, Sala worked locally as a hairdresser and beautician.
