Kansas City gets Google project - www.roanoke.com

03/31/11 Blacksburg and Virginia Tech filed a joint application for the Google Fiber project. Google has chosen Kansas City, Kan., for its high-speed fiber network investment, over the likes of Blacksburg, Roanoke and thousands of communities across the country. The California-based high-tech company, led by former Blacksburg resident Eric Schmidt, announced the decision on its official blog Wednesday.
