    Logging plans spur environmental suits

    01/28/10 An environmental group filed lawsuits Wednesday against the California Department of Forestry that contend the agency failed to properly analyze carbon emissions stemming from 15 logging plans proposed by Sierra Pacific Industries. State law requires industries to analyze any projects that could add carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and, thus, potentially contribute to climate change.

    01/22/10 Stockton, CA -- P.G.& E. is reporting close to 10,000 power outages in the Mother Lode region. According to Public Information Officer Nicole Liebelt there are 5,000 outages in Tuolumne and eastern Stanislaus counties.

    01/22/10 Sonora, CA - Road maintenance crews are remaining busy this afternoon. Carole Jackson of the Tuolumne County Public Works Department says crews are returning to areas that were cleared earlier today to remove the afternoon snow.

    Power Outages Dwindling

    01/21/10 Sonora, CA - There are still over 2,500 PG&E customers without power across the Mother Lode, but earlier today there were more than 8,000. PG&E spokesperson Nicole Liebelt says Sonora has 870 outages, Groveland 770, Mi Wuk Village 220, Pinecrest 200, Jamestown 160, Twain Harte 130 and Arnold 60.

    01/21/10 Sonora, CA - PG&E says crews will work through the night to restore as many remaining power outages as possible. Spokesperson Nicole Liebelt says only 80 are without power between Calaveras and Amador Counties. It is a different situation in Tuolumne County, where 2,080 customers are in the dark.

    Cold storm leads to spinouts, closures

    12/08/09 Wintry weather wreaked havoc in the Mother Lode Monday, resulting in road closures, sliding cars and power outages. However, the storm was good news for ski areas. Dodge Ridge Ski Resort in Pinecrest announced this morning that it will open Friday after receiving two feet of snow at the base and three feet at the summit.
