05/26/11 Melinda Thomas, 59, Woodland Park, Colo., formerly of Hays, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colo. She was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Hays to Severin S. and Marie (Riedel) Leiker. She was a 1969 graduate of Marian High School in Hays.

06/22/11 Stephen "Steve" K. Schmeidler, 51, Hays, died Sunday, June 19, 2011, in rural Trego County. He was born Oct. 14, 1959, in Hays to Kenneth and Elizabeth "Betty" (Polifka) Schmeidler. He was a 1977 graduate of Thomas More Prep-Marian High School.
