Neighbors protest Ormond-by-the-Sea development

06/04/11 Linda Spires flapped a protest sign and choked a bit on dust kicked up by a bobcat machine clearing land for Sunset Cove, a new subdivision off John Anderson Drive in Volusia County north of Ormond Beach.

Photo of tortoise near Ormond construction site halts work temporarily

06/11/11 Work on the Sunrise Cove development off John Anderson Drive has been halted temporarily after a protest group member said she photographed a gopher tortoise near the site. The builder had assured the state all of the animals had been removed.
