    Hanford shootings spark increased police action

    12/19/09 Five shootings in Hanford in the last week have led local law enforcement to crack down hard on criminal activity in the community. It started on Tuesday evening, when 45 law enforcement officers from across the county came together to conduct a massive parole and probation compliance sweep in Hanford and Lemoore, according to the Hanford Police Department.

    Saluting Essex rescue heroes

    12/19/09 Five people were honored by the Essex Police Department and selectmen at the Essex Senior Center on Monday night for their efforts in early October that helped save the lives of an elderly couple. It was Saturday Oct. 10, 95-year-old Hyman Novak and his 79-year-old wife Helen accidently drove their car off a small ledge near Periwinkles Restaurant and into the Essex River.
