    Dairy surplus hurting Southwest Valley farmers, forcing some to close

    08/10/09 Auctioneers have sold off the cows and equipment of the former Pylman Dairy Farm, which filed for bankruptcy last month. The national dairy surplus that is causing low prices is crippling Arizona's dairy industry and farmers like Michael Pylman. Farmers say efforts to decrease the surplus may soon create a shortage, though.

    08/10/09 Arrests Anthony Giacalone, 25, of 316 Main Street, Gloucester, was arrested at 1:05 a.m. yesterday on charges of domestic assault and battery. Giacalone was arrested after police say he grabbed his girlfriend to attempt to get her to leave a Hodgkins Street home.

    SEARCH: Nothing found after reports of man plunging from bridge

    08/10/09 U.S. Coast Guard, border patrol and local authorities searched a section of the Niagara River Monday morning for a man who possibly jumped from the South Grand Island Bridge. State Police Investigator Thomas Gibbons said a call about the man jumping was placed by a motorist traveling south over the bridge at approximately 6:50 a.m.But there are some who think the report may have been in error.
