Appeals Court Will Not Halt Execution

06/14/10 An appeal from convicted murderer David Powell has been denied by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Powell, who was convicted of killing Officer Ralph Ablanedo in 1978, had appealed to the court to give him a life sentence instead of death by lethal injection.

06/18/10 David Powell, 49, 260 Clinton St., Elmore, arrested by Elmore police for failure to appear, $240 bail. Robin Marko, 54, 2354 West Ohio 163, Genoa, arrested by the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office for probation violation, no bail.

06/12/11 Hundreds of East Texans paid their respect Sunday to a Quitman soldier who died on the battlefield in Afghanistan. Sergeant Joshua David Powell's body arrived at 9 a.m. in Tyler.
