12/19/09 By Russ Corey, Staff Writer Some Buchannan Peninsula Road residents are unhappy about the speed limit on the 1.7-mile, dead-end road off Riverton-Rose Trail. It's not that the speed limit is too high. It's too low. Earlier this month, commissioners approved County Engineer John Bedford's recommendation to set the speed on Buchannan Peninsula Road at 25 mph.

    Community Notes: Tom Ray will be missed by area running community

    06/13/11 Ray, a member of the Peninsula Track Club and the Colonial Road Runners for many years, didn't get into competitive racing until age 55 but it didn't take him long to develop into an age-group standout. And almost 20 years later, with a slew of club and state age-group records on his resume, he was inducted into the Virginia Peninsula Road Racing Hall of Fame in 2007.
