    Study: U.S. 72 growth remain near towns, communities

    06/30/09 By Russ Corey, Staff Writer As a developer, Mildred Helsley likes the ideas provided in a comprehensive study for the continued development of the U.S. 72 corridor through Colbert County. Helsley was one of a dozen people who attended a meeting at the Cherokee Town Hall on Monday where a draft of the plan was presented to the public.

    Lucky Ducky Derby raises $31,000

    06/29/09 By Bernie Delinski, Staff Writer The waterfowl at Spring Creek had a bit less wing room Sunday afternoon when some 7,500 rubber ducks journeyed across the creek in the annual Lucky Ducky Derby. This is the fifth year of the derby, which is on the final day of the Helen Keller Festival at Spring Park in Tuscumbia.

    Drive-By Truckers playing two shows at Shoals Theater
