07/13/11 Gov. Dave Heineman has submitted a formal request for a Major Disaster Declaration to the President through the Federal Emergency Management Agency Region VII in the wake of flooding, severe storms, high winds, tornadoes, rain and hail that have occurred in 29 Nebraska counties since May of this year.

05/09/11 The Lincoln Golden Bears track team went to Gulf Shores focused on winning their first state championship since 2008. The Golden Bears came short of reaching their goal this year, as they finished second in the Class 4A state track meet on Saturday afternoon.

Altamont's boys team finished second, just 5.5 points behind Class 2A champion Lanett, in the AHSAA Class 1A-3A state track meet held Saturday at Birmingham-Southern's Panther Field.
