    Oak Mountain girls fall in area title game at Hoover

    02/06/10 The Oak Mountain High School girls' basketball team fell 54-29 to host Hoover in the Class 6A, Area 10 championship game Feb. 6. Lay Watts led the Eagles (25-6) with 10 points and seven rebounds. Marisa Tomaszewski chipped in four points and three rebounds.

    Memorial tonight for Cook High coach

    02/04/10 A memorial service will be held tonight at New Life Baptist Church in Adel at 7 p.m. for Coach Mac Thompson, the head coach of the Cook High School Hornets. Thompson, 39, died suddenly late Wednesday night from unknown causes. He had coached the Cook team for only one season.

    12/05/09 Staff, wire report A Pelham police officer shot and killed during a traffic stop on Interstate 65 late Thursday night began his law enforcement career at the University of Alabama Police Department, where he worked for nearly four years. Philip Davis, 33, was with the department between July 1998 and April 2002, said UA spokeswoman Cathy Andreen.
