Oil profits could buy more good will in state

02/15/11 Oil is the lifeblood of Alaska. Oil funds most of state government and the Permanent Fund. That's the deal and some Alaskans are so infatuated with and mesmerized by oil that you would think they brush their teeth with WD-40 before bed, that their kids swim in lakes of it, and that they water their lawns with it.

APFC investments see 14.5 percent return

02/19/11 The state's $39 billion Permanent Fund investment account earned a 14.5 percent return from July through December, the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. said.
