Interior to process Shell permit

12/02/10 Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said Shell's application to drill an exploration well in the company's Beaufort Sea federal offshore leases next summer will be processed.

William Watkins; brought whales' voices to world

06/18/11 Dr. William A. Watkins would do anything to capture the sounds of whales, porpoises, seals, and dolphins on tape in their natural habitats. In the Arctic Ocean's Beaufort Sea, north of Alaska and Canada, he hopped with his recording gear from one iceberg to another to collect the whistles, clicks, snorts, and chatterings of marine mammals.

Eni Takes Risk; Develops Nikaitchuq Field

07/08/11 Eni began oil production at the Nikaitchuq field in February 2011. The field is located in the Beaufort Sea off the North Slope of Alaska in 3 meters of water. It is also Eni's first operated Arctic project.
