Sound Tigers name Thompson as 7th head coach

06/29/11 The New York Islanders named former pro defenseman Brent Thompson to coach the Sound Tigers on Tuesday. Thompson, a veteran of 121 NHL games, won the ECHL's Kelly Cup championship last season with the Alaska Aces.

Aces pick Bruins long-timer as new head coach

07/13/11 From the Stanley Cup to the Kelly Cup: The new Alaska Aces head coach comes from the hockey organization that hoisted the NHL's top prize just a few weeks ago. Rob Murray's contract was not renewed after three seasons as head coach of the Providence Bruins, an affiliate of the NHL champion Boston Bruins.
